This 59 thing has been haunting me for about 30 years. I see it at least 15-20 times a day, nonstop. Sure wish there was an explanation, starting to bug me.

Every single time I look at the clock it is always 59 minutes of the hour. Still searching for the explanation of mysterious number 59. I'm shocked when I read the comments with the same experience. :-P
