It has to do with before we knew more about life and death and why things happen and we had a lot more uncertainty and unanswerable questions than we do now. Also during transitions in life or natural disasters ir accidents, illness ir i juries we have more uncertainty and making decisions without all the informstion we need is difficult and a gamble if it is about something important to us and others so becsuse the brain takes a lot if energy to think things through so does decision making if we are doing it in a thorough way and leaders and authorities came up with different ways to decide things that would not make them liable to the disappointment of their constituents. Back in the day lesders were killed as were some people subjected to authorities with power to kill them. Nunerology like astorlogy and astronomy were ways to understand the unknown so that you could make a decision that felt right and convinced you you were doing the right things and it also helped ithers not to kill you and to support your decision. So sayign the gods will this ir God wills this was a way to do that and looning for signs that others agreed with you thst it was from God and using divination tools like tarot and dice and others were ised to convince people that the decision was of a higher authority like God and that it was the right thing and if we didnt follow it we would regret it.
